Ancient City of Bam - southeast of Iran, photo was taken before the Quake. An earthquake destroyed about 50% of the historic Silk Road city on December 26 2003, 5:27 AM, killing over 43,000 people, injured 20,000, and left 60,000 homeless. The old quarter and a 2,000-year-old citadel (severely damaged by the earthquake) were built primarily of mud brick.
The Bridge of 33 Arches was built in the 17th Century by Shah Abbas Safavi. The Bridge covers 175 yards across the Zayande Rud River and its about 45 feet wide. It is located in Esfahan Province.
Many thanks to Mazdak Samii for the photos.

Great pictures and info. Thanks.
I think Iran must be absolutely beautiful!!! I wish i could go and see all these places for myself.*sigh*
It is very unique, arid climate in most parts…Many would go back in a heartbeat JM, if they could. One day we all hope to be back and, that, we will do.
I linked here from Jungle Mom’s blog and am so glad I did! I have utterly enjoyed browsing your blog. So much helpful and needed info. The photos are absolutely breathtaking. The castle makes me think of fairytales.
Hi Pam,
Thank you for visiting & your feedback. Look forward to seeing you again.
Iran, I loved you during the reign of Shahpur Reza Pahalavi,
but I was compelled to leave after the Revolution of 1979 because the country and the Iranians had changed overnight, for the worse.
